Sharpening
Steps |
 |
Hold skate securely on a stable
surface such as a table or bench. Note: When gripping the
Pro-Filer during sharpening, do not press thumb or finger against
the exposed diamond cylinder. This free-floating cylinder is
designed to seat in a precise centre
position in the cylinder saddle. Side pressure could cause
misalignment of cylinder to blade.
|
 |
Place Pro-Filer on blade.
Hold arm in line with blade and stroke down the centre.
Do not force side to side. Apply light to moderate pressure
stroking in both directions. Gentle pressure is the most
effective way to perform accurate blade maintenance with your
Pro-Filer Diamond.
|
 |
After 10 – 15 strokes (1 stroke
considered up and down the blade), lift the Pro-Filer off the blade and
rotate the stone slightly to expose a fresh surface.
|
 |
(Optional) When you
determine you are half way through the sharpening process, turn
skate around and stroke blade in opposite direction to assure
balanced pressure on all parts of your blade.
|
 |
Check for a burr by pinching
blade and pulling toward the skating edge.
When a burr has formed on both sides of the blade you have restored hollow.
|
 |
Side stone thoroughly, stoking
firmly at least 8 to 10 times on each side. Burr must be
removed.
